Immediately after our National Staff Conference in mid Feb, my team (Tokyo Campus Team) went into full steam in preparation for the National Student Conference which was last held in August of 2006 at Fuji-Hakone. In 2008 when Patrick took on leadership for Tokyo Team, he took the team through some hard look at the past conferences & we decided as a team to provide leadership to re-start the nationwide conference in early spring of 2010 instead of our usual summer break in early Aug.

Mar 15~18 CHANGE 2010, National Student Conference @ Yoyogi, Tokyo

We saw a total of about 90 students representing Aomori, Sendai, Tokyo, Yokohama, Nagoya, Osaka, Kyoto, Okayama & Fukuoka.

From the feedback forms we received from the participants, these are the few highlights:

Patrick with his group of students.
1. OUTREACH. Outreach session provides the opportunity to put into practice what we have been taught in the class. It has always been a regular feature of CCC student conference. However, instead of the regular 1 afternoon, we scheduled 2 afternoons this time. We went out in pairs to share of our faith at the nearby world renowned hangout place for the youth, Yoyogi Park as well Harajuku. During our evening plenary sessions & final day celebration time, we heard many students testified of how God honored their faith as well as some who experienced victories in the midst of rejection. Please pray that the fervor to share our faith will last for the life-time!

2. Evening PLENARY SESSIONS, especially Worship & the messages. Besides having our very own staff as the main plenary speakers, we have also invited a graduate who is now a pastor in Tokyo. (Pastor Hayasaka came to faith through the ministry of CCC while he was an undergraduate.) Pastor Nagasawa, an aspiring youth worship leader, helped to anchor the worship sessions in which many of us are being ministered.

3. TRAINING CLASS - we had a total of 3 Training Levels:
Patrick teaching the Advance Class
Basic - the know-how of sharing our faith
Intermediate - Follow-up of new believers
Advance - How-to of spiritual multiplication
Each Training Level has 6 sessions, each lasting 45mins.
Patrick taught 2 sessions of the Advance Class & during his sessions, he had senior students came to him commenting 'how I wish that I had taken such training earlier which has so clearly helped me to see what the staff has been trying to teach us...we don't just seek to share Christ but also to ground the person's faithc' Personally, I know it's never too late because we are not just focusing on ministry when they are still students but rather, building a movement of spiritual multiplication for a life-time!

Some practical ways you can be of help during our home assignment:
  • Do you know of friends who may be interested in supporting our ministry? If so, would you help make the connection for us to meet up with them?

  • Would you consider hosting a 'Vision Sharing Party' by inviting interested friends you know to allow us in sharing our calling and work in Tokyo Campus Ministry?

We are so grateful to Shien Kwok & Grace who have so graciously offered their home for our stay!

***Please pray for wisdom to plan for a fruitful time of connection with our family members, Home Church, Ministry Partners & friends.
