News from the Lowlies MOVEMENTS EVERYWHERE so that everyone knows someone who truly follows Jesus. December 07 issue |
A typical college education in Japan is 4 years. This is Patrick's 4th year in full-time campus ministry in Tokyo (Patrick was assigned back to full-time field ministry after his completion of language study in Feb 2004) By Mar 2008, he will be seeing the first batch of students, whom he has worked with since their freshman year, graduate.

Patrick first met Toshi when he was a freshman at Gakushuin University (one of the 4 campuses that Patrick adopted with 2 other fellow Japanese staff ladies in Feb 2004). After spending some time with him, Patrick had the privilege of leading Toshi to Christ in year 2004. They started to meet for follow-up to help ground Toshi with some basic Christian foundation and followed by discipleship when he indicated interest in growing more as a disciple of Christ. It is exciting to witness how as he grew in his relationship with Christ, he began to catch the vision of becoming a spiritual multiplier & reaching his own campus for Christ!
Patrick first met Nobu when he was co-training his first Japanese GCTC trainee, Imai. Nobu comes from a Christian home. As Patrick was co-training Imai, he also had the privilege to co-disciple Nobu. It is exciting to see how Nobu changed from a person who was so reluctant in evangelism (when they first started to disciple him) to one who is proactively trying to find a niche to share his faith with his friends today.
It is with great excitement as we are about to witness history in Japan CCC. The leadership is in the process to consider both Toshi's & Nobu's STInt application (Short Team Internship) to serve overseas for a year upon their graduation in Feb 2008. If they are accepted, they will be our 1st student STInters. Please pray for our leadership team as they lead them through a process to access their readiness to be sent overseas!
JCCC STAFF CONFERENCE 2007 (from Dec 26 to 29)
Patrick was approached at the beginning of this year to help provide leadership to organize our once every 2 years all Japan Staff Conference. It is with great privilege & joy as Patrick recruited the various staff for the key portfolios (see picture on the left). Please pray that this will be a blessed time as we bond as a staff family moving towards a common goal of proclaiming Jesus to a yet predominantly unbelieving nation! It can be tough at times but may we not lose sight of the goal & the hope we have in Jesus!
The theme for the Staff Conference is 'Resilience' taken from 2 Cor 4:8-9
This is a season to reflect on what we can be thankful for. And we know that there are just so many things we as a family can thank God for : The kids are enjoying their schools; making friends both in school & in church; physically & emotionally secure & balance. With real joy to us is to see their enthusiasms in memorizing scriptures!
The weather has turned colder. Please pray that we will all be kept warm & healthy, especially with the 2 older kids in elementary school as they travel to & back from school each day by themselves.
