LATEST CHALLENGE

On 9th Jan 2008, Patrick was formally appointed the role of the Tokyo Campus Director. In Nov 2007, our National Campus Director & Tokyo Campus Director, Yoshitaka SATO stepped down from both positions and was granted a year of sabbatical leave after 17 years of continuous ministry. Upon his step down, our Japan CCC National Director, Kazu met up with Patrick to discuss about our future assignment. As the Director of the Student Impact-Tokyo Team (Student Impact is the name of the Campus ministry of Japan Campus Crusade), we have a total of 23 fulltime staff (including 4 mothers) and 15 STInters under my care. Some statistics:
  • 23 fulltime staff (including 4 mothers)
  • 15 STInters
  • Represented by 7 nationalities (Japanese, American, Taiwanese, Korean, Hong Kong, Canadian & Singaporean)
  • 700,000 undergraduates in 170 campuses! (4 year courses)

With such a culturally diversified team, who say communication is easy? PLEASE PRAY for wisdom from God and favor from the team as we seek to serve and direct the team towards God's plan for us!

2008 Jan 12, THE BIBLE CHURCH 50th anniversary

By the invitation of our church Missions Board, both Estella & Patrick attended the special occasion.

Looking back our own journey with The Bible Church, in Jan 1990, Patrick first stepped into The Bible Church followed by Estella a few months later. We stayed on from then onwards & have made her our home church. More as a recipient than a giver, we can't imagine the many sacrifices those early members have paid to see what we have today. It was definitely a blessing to catch up with many old friends but our common highlight was to witness the appreciation to 4 of the Founding members who have stayed with The Bible Church from Day 1, 50 years ago! 1 thing that stood out among the 4 members; they have certainly grown in age, but definitely NOT out of ministry! In fact, one of these members, Mrs. Shek has been one of those who faithfully and tirelessly reaching out to our parents! Through each of their lives, they have taught us well what it means by 'Remembering His Grace, Declaring His Glory!' They are our role models for a lifetime of ministry!

    FAMILY NEWS

At the beginning of this year, our 2 older kids (Elisha & Megumi) have started daily Bible reading and journal writing. It is our desire that this will help inculcate discipline, keeping God's Word in their hearts and appreciating God for His daily provision. Please pray that this will not turn into boring routine and expectation they receive from their parents but an opportunity for them to encounter their personal God!

We are scheduled to return for our furlough this year ***late July to end August*** tentatively. Please be patient with us as we work out our schedule with the various leadership parties involved. We look forward to the time of fellowship with you!
