We proudly present you our gifts from God! (Psalms 127:3) Our lives would have been so different without them.

On the 1st of Jan 2008, we started our 2 older kids (Elisha & Megumi) in journaling to help them remember God's goodness and also the lessons they have learnt. Exactly 1 year later, on the 1st of Jan 2009, we took time as a family to reflect the past year by recalling & looking through their journals togetherc For the past year, they have written their journal mainly in Japanese but thanks to the English Enrichment classes they attended last summer during our furlough in Singapore, it has helped to give them more confidence to start writing their journals in English this year! (Look REGINA, your effort is still bearing fruits!!!)

All 3 of our kids are in local Japanese schools. In 2006, the 2 older kids, Elisha & Megumi started learning piano on Apr 27 & May 2 respectively while Hitoshi started later on 4th Sep 2008. Unlike piano lesson, they all requested for swimming lesson at the same time & we decided to send them on the same day, 2nd of May 2007, although they were placed at different level. In 2008, the 2 older kids had the opportunity to participate in a swimming tournament.

Megumi
turned 8 years old on 25th Jun 2008 and will be starting 3rd grade in the local elementary school this April.
She tends to take a little bit more time to open up to strangers and is the more artistic one in the family who loves to draw & make paper origami (she made Patrick a special 3 dimensional birthday card just this last Jan! )
NEW YEAR PERSONAL CHALLENGE
Megumi would like to join the more advance swimmers' group (Elisha is in that group) & get a better speed (her best record for 50m free style is 46.52s) so as to do lapse with ease (to finish 50m by 1min circle).

Elisha
turned 10 years old on 18th Dec 2008 and in the coming new academic year starting this April, he will be in 5th grade.
He is the more outgoing and the outdoor type who loves sports. He has started mini-basketball as his school club activity. During the school break time, he loves to play soccer and baseball with his friends.
NEW YEAR PERSONAL CHALLENGE
Elisha - speed for 50m Front-crawl to hit 35.00s (his best record now is 39.00s)
*Picture of him during his 1st time attempt to ski at Niigata.

Hitoshi
turned 5 years old on 12th Jul 2008 and will be in his last year in kindergarten from this Apr before he is enrolled in the same elementary school as his 2 older siblings. He is still trying to find his niche although he mentioned that he loves sports! (maybe he is just trying to imitate his older brother) In terms of personality, he resembles his older brother but tends to be a little more forgetful.
NEW YEAR PERSONAL CHALLENGE
Hitoshi wants to start playing basketball, soccer & baseball (record for rope skipping is 61 times at one go)

*For those of you who have been praying for Hitoshi's eczema, we are glad to be introduced a skin doctor for Hitoshi by one of his classmates' mother. It seems to have work well so far for the past few weeks (Estella brought him to the new doctor on 19th Jan). Please continue to pray for complete recovery!
We want to thank those of you who have responded to our last appeal. Despite the financial uncertainty & challenging time, there are those of you who have not stopped to give so generously. Your giving have helped to take us out of the deficit but because mostly are one time gift, this is just a temporary measure. We are still in need of people who can commit to giving to our ministry on a monthly basis.
